Shepherd of My Heart,
With you as my King, my focus, my desire, I shall not want all the days of my life. I know that want goes beyond the need, and You are all I want. If I have You, I have no wants. You satisfy my soul like a long, cool drink on a hot summer’s day.
You make me lay down in green pastures, so that I can be still and know that you are God, so that I can know You have been to this place before me and have prepared it for my benefit long before I ever arrived, so that I could find rest and be filled.
You lead me beside quiet, still waters so that I can drink of You and be satisfied. You restore my soul, heal my wounds, give back more than what was stolen, and enable me to stand whole.
You guide me on paths of righteousness as a lamp to my feet and a light to my path, to keep me from straying and losing my vision, so that Your name will be made known and glorified through me!
Even though I walk through the valley where death hangs like a shadow, I am hidden beneath the shelter of Your wings and will have no fear, because You are with me. Your rod and staff are a comfort that keep me from straying, even when it feels otherwise.
You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies, so that even when all around me appears as darkness, I lack for nothing, for You are there! Your banner over me is love! Like Queen Esther, I learn then to worship You regardless of circumstance, even in the presence of my enemy who may be sitting at the same table! I am confident in Your presence and provision. With eyes focused on You, I have nothing to fear.
You anoint my head with oil so that the infestation of evil thoughts has no place to land and grow. With your anointing, nothing can take away the peace of mind You have given.
My cup overflows so that I have more than enough to share and to give others what You have given to me. I never run out of Your goodness! Your goodness and lovingkindness towards me are like my shadow, they follow me all the days of my life. May I be one with You as You are one with the Father, and I will dwell with You forever!
