When I was a little girl we used to have this really odd annual family reunion of sorts called “Decoration Day”, where we and others would all bring our picnic foods, fried chicken, and flowers to the cemetery and decorate the graves of loved ones buried there. You hear a lot at events like this one that don’t always align with scripture and can be very confusing.
Am I the only one who has ever tortured myself over the thought of soul sleep, and the idea that when a loved one in Christ dies they are somehow not present with the Lord until “the dead in Christ shall rise…”?
JUST IN CASE NOT (or for those willing to admit they weren’t certain), I think you will find comfort in this passage once you stop and allow it to sink in. I know I did 😄
“Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies” John 11:23-25
